Frequently Asked Questions
General
Why isn’t the power bank charging my device at 100W?
While Retract Max supports charging speeds of up to 100W over USB-C, many devices do not.
In order to charge at 100W, you must be using a cable and device which support USB PD 3.1, such as Retract’s inbuilt charging cable.
Additionally, charging speed may vary due a number of factors, including how full the device being charged’s battery is, whether other devices are connected and their operating temperature.
Many laptops do not support charging speeds above 60-70W, while other electronics such as tablets or portable games consoles often max out at 30-45W.
How do I adjust switch Retract’s screen to always display when charging?
If you want Retract’s screen to stay on longer while charging, press the button three times to reach the “Screen Display Time” screen, and then hold the button down until it switches from “30s” to “Always On”.
Please note that the power bank’s battery will drain
faster while the screen is active.
Can I dispose of this power bank in my general waste bin?
No. This power bank’s lithium-ion battery, when unattended in an uncontrolled environment, may pose a long-term fire hazard.
Like other lithium-ion power banks, this one must be disposed of at special collection points for safe processing.
Please consult your local authorities, or the retailer you purchased your power bank from, for the correct way to dispose of power banks.
What safety features does this power bank have?
Being a high-capacity lithium-ion battery, this power bank was designed with a number of robust safety features to protect you and your devices, including:
• Overcurrent protection
• Overvoltage protection
• Short-circuit protections
• Fire-retardant materials
• High-temperature protections
• Interference protections
Can I take Retract Max on flights with me?
Retract Max’s battery capacity of 20,00mAh or 74Wh (watt-hours) is safely below the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) guidelines for the maximum size power bank that can be taken on flights (100Wh) when in your carry-on luggage.
Like all personal power banks, Ark cannot be stored in checked luggage.
While the vast majority of airlines follow these guidelines, it remains at the discretion of individual airlines whether lithium-ion power banks are permitted.
Within China, power banks with “CCC” certification (like Retract Max) may be confiscated when taking domestic flights. We do not recommend carrying Retract Max onto a domestic flight within the PRC.
Does Retract Max support MacBooks and other Thunderbolt laptops?
Yes – this power bank works with any computer with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 ports.
What ports should I use to charge my laptop and phone together?
To ensure your laptop charges at the highest possible speed, we recommend using Retract Max’s cable and USB-C port, for a combined total of 100W + 65W
charging.
Using both of Retract Max’s USB Ports at the same time will reduce them both to a shared maximum of 15W, only suitable for trickle charging low powered devices overnight, such as a phone, smart watch and wireless earbuds.
